Benares, London
Today we had lunch at the Michelin starred restaurant, Benares. We had the prix fixe menu and it was delicious. One of the great things about fancy restaurants is that they give amuse bouche between courses – you know I love free food.
It was a great day and the food was out of this world. Certainly not something we’re used to. And we’ll just ignore how much it cost…
I’ve posted more photos here. Please forgive the photography, it was quite dim in the restaurant and I’m still learning!
Hey Hey, good to see you’re taking our advice!!!
Benares is Atul Kochar’s restaurant, no? He was our favourite, so good choice.
Hope you liked it.
Yes it is Kochhar’s. We thought you might like to go to India with him – http://www.indianodyssey.co.uk.
The service was also excellent, there would have been 20 wait staff, each with a designated role.
I had the semolina crusted chicken fillets which were excellent and then the lamb with rogan fettucine. The papadums were bite size and were served with an assortment of 4 chutneys, you would have enjoyed it
Thank Christ you used Dave and Jill’s book! They would have been whinging about it incessantly if you hadn’t. About the time you were dining on a gourmet banquet, we were uprooting stumps in Dave’s backyard. Sure you don’t want to swap places?
Enjoying the blog, by the way. If I read it too much, I think I might end up with a plane ticket on my credit card
Was the sauce amazing?
Yeah, those restaurants tend to have good service. It’s really what you are paying for, because that many staff add up. Still, it’s worth it.
Don’t go to Heston Blumenthal’s restaurant though – apparently there’s been food poisoning: http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/news/life-and-style/diners-spewing-at-268-food-poisoning/2009/03/09/1236447099091.html
Ooooh I’m so jealous! Sounds lie you guys are having a fabulous time! Keep updating!
@ PJ: Good for you uprooting stumps! Enjoy your time at Alpha, superintendant sir.
@ Dave: Yes front page news here, the Fat Duck restaurant.
@ Craig: Pretty darn amazing
